Sat: Really Really Free Market // Sun: Prisoner Letter Writing // Thurs: Open Stage // Fri: Queer Film Screening // Sun: Collage Workshop & Prisoner Letter Writing & A Show! // & More!!!

-Saturday, Jan. 12th, noon - 3pm:  Really Really Free Market

No money. No trades. Everything is free.  This market is based on a gift-economy and thinks capitalism is terrible.  Bring food to share.  Bring your special items that you don't use but can't throw away (ex. clothes, toys, art supplies, instruments, books and zines...your free box).  Bring your special talents to offer people (ex. haircuts, message, reiki...).  Come and take what you can use and say thanks!  We will have folks to check in with as you arrive.  First come first served, space may be limited. Requirements: Mutual respect.  If you bring things, you are expected to take away whatever is left at the end of the market.

-Sunday, Jan. 13th, 1 - 4pm:  Prisoner Letter Writing

Each week we will highlight a specific prisoner, have info on their story and struggle, and have a list of political prisoners to write. Use this time to find a new prisoner penpal, to continue a correspondence or write to someone you know inside. We have materials and stamps but please bring paper, pens and stamps if you like. Some snacks provided.

-Thursday, Jan. 17th, 7:30pm:  Open Stage!

SubRosa's take on Open Mic. Once a month. Every month. Sign ups at 7:30pm. Show at 8! Each act will get 5-10 minutes depending on the evening.

This is a space for performance of all kinds. A space to be witnessed in your work. Performance art. Drag. Dance. Poetry. Music. Essays. Rants. Interactive games. Magic. This is an Open Stage.

With a critique of capitalism and acknowledgement of intersectional systems of oppression, we honor and wish to uplift less heard voices including those of queer, trans, femme, people of color and indigenous folks. We strive to create a brave space where we work with what and who is in the room.

We hope for this space to serve the radical performing artists in Santa Cruz and are open to collaboration!

Donations accepted and appreciated.

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
