Really Really Free Market this Sunday // about Free Skool Santa Cruz

This Sunday! Really Really Free Market - 11am-2pm at SubRosa (703 Pacific Ave) - No money. No trades. Everything is free. A offering also part of summer session at Free Skool Santa Cruz.

We all have something to share with each other... and to receive with gratitude is also a gift. This gathering is not about the "stuff" we give and take, but more about how we can freely give and receive from each other. This market is based on a gift-economy... capitalism NO! But come to the really really free market to give away your old stuff and/or get new-to-you stuff. Bring your special items that you don't use but can't throw away (ex. clothes, toys, art supplies, instruments, books and zines...your free box). Come and take what you can use and say thanks! We will have folks to check in with as you arrive. First come first served, space may be limited. Don't be late and be sure to check in with the organizers when you get there. If you bring things, you are expected to take away whatever is left at the end of the market.

Happening every second Sunday of the month! With pandemic protocols- let's share community care! Wear a mask.

¡Todo gratis! No intercambio de dinero, no negocios, no trueques. ¡¡¡Mercado libre completamente gratis!!!

And about Free Skool Santa Cruz: Join us for the second half of Free Skool Santa Cruz summer 2021 (through autumn equinox) - a not entirely new, not all too different version of Free Skool Santa Cruz  - a project in mutual aid learning and sharing.

And Free Skool website with lots of information about the summer schedule!

What is Free Skool Santa Cruz?

A radically different approach to living and learning, Free Skool Santa Cruz is a grassroots educational project beyond institutional control. It is an opportunity to learn from each other and share what we know, to foster communities of mutual support and autonomy.

Part of creating a new world is resistance to the old one, including the ways we learn relate to each other.

SubRosa is a collectively run anarchist community space, a place to meet others and challenge our assumptions and act on our passions. We strive to create a vibrant environment for events, classes, meetings, organizing, performance, art, studying and more. SubRosa also offers radical literature for sale, and houses the Anarchist Lending Library. We welcome folks to join us in fostering an environment free from coercion, sexism, queer&homophobia, racism, ableism and other hierarchies.

SubRosa is part of the Hub Community Center, in downtown Santa Cruz, CA which is the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
