Another thought provoking zine on the subject of engaging in social struggle with others and a critical examination of anti-oppression politics.
Who Is Oakland: Anti-Oppression Activism, the Politics of Safety, and State Co-optation (zine available at escalatingidentity.wordpress.com by clicking on the title).
From the synopsis – written collaboratively by a group of people of
color, women, and queers – and is offered in deep solidarity with anyone
committed to ending identity-based oppression and exploitation
materially. By “materially,” we simply mean that we do not believe that
consciousness raising or vague changes in personal attitudes can
disrupt, delegitimate, and ultimately dismantle systems of domination.
We don't currently have this zine at SubRosa, but read it at the link above and bring your thoughts and conversation to the community space.
SubRosa is a collectively run anarchist community space, a place to meet others and challenge our assumptions and act on our passions. We strive to create a vibrant environment for events, classes, meetings, organizing, performance, art, studying and more. SubRosa also offers radical literature and houses the Anarchist Lending Library. We welcome folks to join us in fostering an environment free from coercion, sexism, queer&homophobia, racism, and other hierarchies.

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
