"14 Tirmeh" or "July 14" is a stark and moving reflection of one of the most brutal episodes in the Turkish state's war on Kurdish identity. Through restrained visuals and powerful testimony, the film honors the resistance of Kurdish political prisoners who faced torture, repression, and death with defiant will. A meditation on memory, sacrifice, and the cost of struggle.

"With deep roots in California, and inspired by the islands, Sangita has been leading lei making workshops since 2023, beginning under the mentorship of the late Kumu Lorraine Kaleiokalaua'e Kinnamon. At SubRosa, she will be guiding participants through the process of creating flower crowns using a traditional Hawaiian technique with locally sourced flowers and plants. In Hawaiian, this is called "lei po'o will" meaning a lei that you wear on your head created by wrapping or twisting. This experience is contextualized within traditional ecological knowledge that centers our reciprocity with nature. The intention of the workshop is to instill a sense of connection and humility for the gifts of mother earth that we are used to naming and imagining as inanimate. As we work with and recognize these gifts, in the form of leaves and blossoms, we reaffirm our dependence upon and responsibility toward the land and all beings." From @redwood_lei
This workshop is open to everyone and requires no prior experience with lei making. Please RSVP via text to (831) 750-4403 to participate and limited to 15 people.
All materials are provided, although students can bring flowers and greens to share if they would like. Donations accepted for materials cost and no one turned away for lack of funds (for real!).

Description: No Gods. No Masters. No Addictions.
This is a space for folks who are ready to face the compulsive behaviors that are throwing off balance and creating toxicity in our lives—whether you're just starting, in the middle of the journey, or have been working on it for a while.
THIS IS NOT AA.
This is about open conversations, sharing our struggles, and supporting each other through the process of healing and growth. While we focus on breaking free from compulsive behaviors, it's not just about alcohol or drugs. If you're tackling any compulsive behavior—be it work, food, gaming, or anything else—we're here for you.
You don't have to have it all figured out or be "sober" to join. We're here to share tools, skills, and approaches that have worked for us in the hope that they'll work for you too. Let's build a supportive community where we can grow together.
SubRosa is a collectively run anarchist community space - a place to meet people, share resources and ideas, challenge our assumptions and act on our passions. Let's create together the world(s) we want to live in now.
And SubRosa is part of the Hub Community Center at 703 Pacific Ave in downtown Santa Cruz - a constellation of projects that support skill-sharing, appropriate re/use of resources, and interconnected, creative communities - since 1994! http://www.santacruzhub.org

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
