If you are interested in hosting an event or playing a show at SubRosa, please read Important Things to Know About Having an Event at SubRosa and then email our events coordinators at subrosa-events@riseup.net or send DM to https://instagram.com/subrosa_space
Note: requests are forwarded to the SubRosa collective and if no one gets back to you in 10 days, then it likely means that no one was available to bottomline a show. We are entirely volunteer-run and often receive many times the amount of requests than what we have actual capacity to host.
SubRosa offers a cozy space for intimate, acoustic performances and also for amplified shows. While we are not your typical music venue, we do host shows for musicians with whom we feel an affinity. We are particularly intrigued by music that is unique, unusual, or shares our radical perspective.
As part of our desire to further debate and dialogue on subjects related to anarchism, we regularly host presentations and speakers drawn from the local community and from afar. Topics covered may include anti-authoritarian struggles, state repression, history, politics, ecology, indigenous issues, feminism, or identity politics.
SubRosa shows films with the help of long-time community project Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In. GDI is an outdoor movie theater under the stars that springs up unexpectedly in the fields and industrial wastelands. Although GDI is mostly dormant now the project mission included: “Beyond showing great free movies year-round and bringing a broad community together, part of our mission is reclaiming public space and transforming our urban environment.”
