First Ever Santa Cruz Anarchist Convergence! May 7-11

A four-day anarchist invasion

The Santa Cruz Anarchist Convergence is coming town! Yes, here, between the forest and the ocean, among the students and the yuppies, where Santa Cruz anarchists have fostered a close-knit community dedicated to destruction of this world and the creation of another.  Santa Cruz is a hub of anarchist culture and resistance, with a long history of radical struggle and active anarchist projects spanning decades. Santa Cruz is proud to host the Santa Cruz Anarchist Convergence, a four-day anarchist event for building community and resistance and sharing radical ideas. Come by SubRosa anytime during the event to pick up a schedule and find out what's going on where. Or, check out the Santa Cruz Anarchist Convergence website!

What's happening?

There will be tons of workshops, panels, and discussions addressing issues of community inter-relatedness, the Green Scare, security culture, the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, DIY infrastructure, applied anarchisms, and resistance . The FreeSkool Conference, happening simultaneously and open to everyone, will explore starting and running freeskools, deconstructing public education, freeskools and anarchism, and more philosophical and practical discussion on skill-sharing networks and challenging institutional control of learning. Workshops have been scheduled between 10 am and 6 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the schedule of workshops will be posted here in the next day or so.

To find out what will be going on at SubRosa, see our calendar page.

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
