We live in an age of historically unprecedented state and corporate surveillance. In this series of workshops, we will work to deconstruct the threats to privacy and work on concrete ways to keep our devices more secure. With the knowledge that activists are being targeted, building security culture digitally and in collective relationships are important aspects of the workshops.

This week:Install signal, discuss why we need privacy (Bring cell phone). Briefly discuss stingrays, surveillance state, our risks. Discuss limits on privacy.  We will have childcare and Spanish translation available.  https://www.facebook.com/events/271772916674691/

From their website "We will discuss ways that Sin Barras can support local and state-wide abolitionist campaigns and how we can further support loved ones inside and their families. We will also discuss what's going right here in Santa Cruz County. So please, bring your ideas and your desire to end the prison industrial complex!" https://sinbarras.org/  https://sinbarras.org/

SubRosa is a collectively run anarchist community space, a place to meet others and challenge our assumptions and act on our passions.  We strive to create a vibrant environment for events, classes, meetings, organizing, performance, art, studying and more. SubRosa also offers radical literature for sale, and houses the Anarchist Lending Library. We welcome folks to join us in fostering an environment free from coercion, sexism, homophobia, racism, and other hierarchies
And SubRosa is part of a larger community center called the Hub.  Go to the Hub's facebook page to find out what other Hub projects have going on! https://www.facebook.com/santacruzhub/

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
