West Coast J20 Solidarity Tour // Open Stage! // Clubrosa // shows!

Tuesday March 13th, 6:30 - 9pm
An event co-sponsored by SubRosa:

West Coast J20 Solidarity Tour
Freight Building, Depot Park — 119 Center St. / Downtown Santa Cruz

On January 20th, 2017 at the massive protests in Washington DC against Trump's inauguration, militarized police attacked and mass-arrested over 200 protestors at an anti-fascist, anti-capitalist march, charging 214 of them with an unprecedented eight felonies.

The first trial against 6 defendants ended with a verdict of not guilty on all charges, forcing prosecutors to drop charges against 129 of the arrested. However, the state is now doubling down against 59 remaining defendants.

In this touring presentation, you'll hear an overview and critical analysis of the case this far, highlighting its role and significance in the changing landscape of political repression in the United States.

DROP THE CHARGES! Building solidarity against trumped-up repression! (there was a show at SubRosa same night but it is cancelled...from facebook event post "SHOW CANCELLED due to a serious medical emergency, sorry everyone")

Thursday March 15th, 7:30pm
Open Stage!

Subrosa's take on Open Mic. Once a month. Every month.  Sign ups at 7:30pm. Show at 8! Each act will get 5-10 minutes depending on the evening.

This is a space for performance of all kinds. A space to be witnessed in your work. Performance art. Drag. Dance. Poetry. Music. Essays. Rants. Interactive games. Magic. This is an Open Stage.

With a critique of capitalism and acknowledgement of intersectional systems of oppression, we honor and wish to uplift less heard voices including those of queer, trans, femme, people of color and indigenous folks. We strive to create a brave space where we work with what and who is in the room.  We hope for this space to serve the radical performing artists in Santa Cruz and are open to collaboration!

Donations accepted and appreciated.

Friday March 16th, 9pm - 1am
Clubrosa - a queer dance party
Clubrosa is back. Come dance. Come wallflower. Come talk. Come shake it. Come unsure. Come with a plan. Come with friends. Come alone. Dress up and get down, or just show up and be down for whatever.
Clubrosa is a queer dance party open to all genders and persuasions. It is a brave space of expression and fun. The dance floor is small and will get crowded. The courtyard is open and offers space to chill. Our space is fairly wheelchair accessible and all ages.

$7 at the door. Give as you are able but always give something. This is a dry space, please have your drinks/do your thing before you come (or just elsewhere!).
We are honored to host the California debut of DJ BExtra (OR). DJ BExtra is fresh from the hills of Southern Oregon. She calls her sound Deep Femme Disco House, it's a multi-genre blend of empowerment anthems and a celebration of sissys of all genders. She features queers and women and loves a great clap track.

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
